ZenGengo is made by a small but passionate team of ed-tech experts and teachers based mainly in Japan. With a combined 100+ years of real language classroom experience between us, we understand the challenges language teachers face every day, both in the pre and post-COVID world.
Paul Raine is the founder, and main developer and designer of ZenGengo. He has published numerous research articles on the teaching and learning of English as a second language, and is particularly interested in Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL). He currently teaches at two universities in the Tokyo area.
Justin Hunt is an ed-tech industry stalwart and audio/video expert. Better known in Moodle circles as The Poodll Guy, Justin has lived in Japan for over 20 years, and has developed a plethora of essential software for language teachers and learners.
Oliver Rose has lived in Japan for 18 years and taught at all levels of the education system, from elementary school through to university. His main pedagogical interests are in developing materials that support acquisition of productive skills, leveraging L1 knowledge in teaching, and Technology Enhanced Language Learning.
Russell Stannard is a multi award-winning Educational Technologist and founder of www.teachertrainingvideos.com. He received awards from the British Council, the Times Higher and the University of Westminster for his work in the use of ICT in education.
Joe Dale is an independent languages consultant from the UK who works with a range of organisations such as Network for Languages, ALL, The British Council, the BBC, Skype, Microsoft and The Guardian. He was recently described in a Guardian article as an 'MFL guru' and 'the man behind the #mfltwitterati.'
